Sailing

Eclipse
is a terrific sailing boat and many guests enjoy taking the helm and feel the trade winds put her rail down as she quickly covers the twenty miles required to get to the best diving areas of Palau. This is best done on the first day of the trip before dive gear and tanks take up much of the deck space. But most people come to Palau for incredible diving and there are some excellent wreck dives on the way south, so the option of sailing the first day is usually passed on by guests to increase their dive opportunities.

The last day of a trip may also offer guests the chance to sail Eclipse back to Sam's Tours, particularly if they are scheduled to fly that night. But more commonly, charterers chose to visit Jellyfish Lake and enjoy a photo cruise through the labyrinthine Rock Islands on the return, usually ending the trip with a dive in beautiful Chandelier Cave before re-entering “civilization”. Sailing is always an option, but at the cost of missing some dives or other attractions unique to Palau.
